This is a fascinating catalog produced at the very early stages of China's opening in the late 1970's at a time when recognition of the need to engage in international trade was a newly rediscovered area. However the conflict with capitalism is clear and a balance is struck by including numerous quotes from Chairman Mao between the pages of various doll models. Given that English is the foreign language of choice, this was clearly aimed at the international marketplace.
