A conversation with Chairman Mao and his wife!

This scene of Chairman Mao with Jiang Qing is a classic addition to any collection. Chairman Mao appears to be instructing Jiang Qing who holds a pencil and an open copy of Chairman Mao’s little red book. On the table between them is a package of the famous ZhongHua cigarettes and a book, Chun Qiu (Spring and Autumn). Following Mao’s death, Jiang Qing and her Gang of Four were arrested and put on trail that resulted in a death sentence, later commuted, for her part in the Cultural Revolution purges and other excesses.

The bottom is stamped, "Jing De Zhen, Ceramic Sculpture Factory" Jing De Zhen is the most famous area in China for the manufacture of ceramics.

This 3 piece set of ceramic statues is a great present day representation of that period. The three piece set together measures about 40cm (16 inches) long and 22 cm (8.5 inches) high. Please note that each set is handmade and thus there maybe slight differences to the picture shown, ie: the book and cigarettes may have swapped location on the table.
