Five Fathers of Communism

This is a set of rare silk portraits of the 5 fathers of communism: Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Engels and Marx. Each portrait is woven in black, gray and white silk thread. When framed as a set these will look stunning. This set of 5 is in excellent condition with no tears, no holes, and no stains. Each silk is stated at the bottom to measure 49 x 72cm.

These silks were made Hangzhou in the People’s Republic of China in the late 1960’s or early 1970's and production ceased with the end of the Cultural Revolution in 1976. The surviving silks have often been badly cared for making this set in excellent condition all the more valuable to the collector.
