Pre-Cultural Revolution Marshal Chen Yun Silk Brocade

This is a hand painted Chinese produced silk portrait of the Chinese People's Liberation Army veteran Chen Yun. Chen Yun was a comrade of Mao Tse-Tung during the Long March of the 1930's, later in charge of financial and economic works, although he was purged during the Cultural Revolution and later rehabilitated.

The use of traditional Chinese characters indicates the silk was produced prior to the Cultural Revolution in China (1966-76). Unlike most silk brocades, this was manufactured in Hangzhou Dujin Raw Silk Factory. The brocade measurements are 11 x 17.25 inches. It is in very good condition.
