Pre-Cultural Revolution General Zhu De Silk Brocade
This is a Chinese produced silk portrait of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Zhu De. General Zhu was a comrade of Mao Tse-Tung during the Long March of the 1930's and managed to survive the purges of the Cultural Revolution. Attached to his uniform is the badge worn by Chinese 'volunteers' during the Korean War.
The use of traditional Chinese characters indicates the silk was produced prior to the Cultural Revolution in China (1966-76). Unlike most silk brocades, this was manufactured in Hangzhou Dujin Raw Silk Factory. The brocade measurements are 11 x 17.25 inches. It is in very good condition.
