Very Early Vietnam War Poster, 1964

This Chinese poster is to support their communist brothers in Vietnam against American aggression. Titled, 'South Vietnamese People's Anti-US Patriotic Struggle Map', it shows statistics of among other things, American wounded and killed from 1962 to 1964, and protests during the same period against the Americans.

It is extremely interesting to note that this poster was printed on August 5, 1964, the very date that President Lyndon B. Johnson addressed the Congress regarding the Tonkin Gulf Incident.

The map shows US air and naval bases in South Vietnam with corresponding red symbols showing areas with Vietcong activity.

It measures 75.5cm (30 inches) x 53cm (21 inches) and was printed by the People's Liberation Army Pictorial, and for 'Internal Use Only'.
