Cultural Revolution Vanity Stand

This is a very fine item from the Cultural Revolution, complete with three drawers and detachable mirror. It is in very nice condition and has aged well, showing a nice patina after more than 30 years.

It is just another example to the extent that revolutionary thinking permeated everyday life during the Cultural Revolution, so that from early morning to late at night, people would be constantly reminded of their leader and their obligations to the revolution.

The drawers are perfect for holding little trinkets or make-up and the rippled mirror shows fantastic character. The inscriptions on the drawers read, Support the Army and Cherish the People, Grab the Revolution to Promote Production, Promote Work, Promote War Preparedness and Strive for Larger Victory. The bottom of the mirror carries the words, Chairman Mao is the Red Sun in our Heart.

The overall dimensions are 36 cm (14.25 inches) x 66 cm (26 inches). The base is 36 cm (14.25 inches) x 15 cm (6 inches).
