PLA Soldier's Bowl

This is a fantastically unusual bowl and case carried by soldiers of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) while out in the field.

The carrying case is cotton with red star sewn on and stamped on the inside with JIA 63. The bowl is hard plastic and molded into the bottom is date of manufacture, 1961, and the side is marked with unit number in red.

The bowl is 13cm (5 inches) in diameter and 6cm (2.5 inches) high. The bottom is marked 'Army Use Only 1961'.
