Cultural Revolution Enamel Serving Tray
This serving tray from the Cultural Revolution is a great example of the propaganda produced and says 'The Red Sun Rises in the East', however the meaning is more complex with the Red Sun representing Chairman Mao and his vital role in the lives of the Chinese people, ie: they are unable to live without the sun or Mao.
The serving tray is 32cm (12.6 inches) in diameter and 3cm (1.2 inches) deep. It is the Dazhong brand and was produced by the Everyday Enamel Products factory in Beijing in January 1969.
